POSITION OVERVIEW:

Come work for a private-equity backed growth company and help us work with some of the global leaders in consumer products, medical devices, industrial products and automotive. You will lead, plan, and grow a group of product lines from conceptual stages through product life cycles and end-of-life as you optimize customer value and best prioritize our resources. You will wear many hats and touch all parts of the organization, but your key metrics will focus on market insights, product success, as well as the typical financial and corporate growth objectives.

The role will be both national and international with up to 30% travel required. Our international locations are near the French-Swiss boarder and near Hong Kong, so international travel is not too much of a chore.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Understand market trends, needs and pain points.       Driving your NPI will require business cases based on facts and insights that you will uncover, consolidate, analyze, and present to senior management. Travel to strategic customers to build relationships, understand their future needs and help close large opportunities
  • Create and execute an annual business plan and long range strategic plan which accurately projects market trends, assesses TAM and SAM, forecasts growth and assesses opportunities and competitive threats based on input from Sales and Marketing
  • Attain specific short and long term sales and margin objectives through the development and execution of product line vision and strategies incorporating consideration for pricing, product development, manufacturing capabilities, competitors and promotion
  • Lead a multi-functional product business line team (engineering, manufacturing, planning, purchasing) to drive product related issues that affect revenue, margin and customer satisfaction
  • Set value-based pricing which maximizes profitability for your product lines by understanding the true value based on customer needs, market alternatives, and customer impact. Pricing segments include standard product offerings (book prices), special prices, custom products, and any special contracts
  • Empower our Marketing, C&K Sales, Rep Firms, and Distribution teams with proactive product knowledge and training.       Work with our marketing team to develop and enable sales tools, sales collateral and catalog content.       Ensure all projects are populated with the best data and content to support your products
  • Drive out cost through product cost reduction initiatives, life cycle cost goals, inventory management, and low scrap rates.

Key Performance Indicators:

You will own key growth, profit, project and customer satisfaction targets for your products. But as a Product Manager you own more responsibility than authority, so influence is key. So while the financial metrics may be the proof that drives the company, the means you choose to achieve your results will be critical to your long-term success.

  • Sales metrics include: Market share, customer penetration, new customers
  • Marketing metrics include: Campaigns, blogs, data and content support
  • NPI Project metrics include: Commercial, timing, and customer satisfaction

You consolidate all information critical to your products and communicate that within the company and to the marketplace.

  • Communicate market needs, SWOT, product line strategy, roadmaps, product plans, results, and any material issues impacting the product line to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders.       Interact with industry team, customers, corporate personnel and other corporate stakeholders as required.
  • Work with Industry Managers and provide input into the long range strategic planning process by proposing and identifying opportunities, market trends, target market, pricing and market strategies, appropriate sales channel, support needs, capital requirements, delivery intervals, manufacturing schedules and expected financial results for specific product or product family.
  • Develop the appropriate communication tools and campaigns with Marketing to ensure the best message is delivered to the marketplace to support your products.

Leverage customer/sales input, primary market research and industry studies. Coordinate benchmark competitive evaluation as input to the business case
  • Define clear product value propositions.       Understand how to translate value propositions into quantifiable customer value
  • Lead the development of the product "road map". Set clear priorities for R&D resources. Develop market product specifications through management of customer functional requirements. Coordinate and validate requirements between engineering, sales, marketing, operations and the customer
  • Drive new product development efforts through the VBPD stage gate process. Define clear performance requirements, timing needs and cost targets. Prepare NPD related financial analysis and coordinate make versus buy decisions.
  • Prepare financial analysis with existing financial tools to determine if project/product is a go or no go decision.   Prepare capital expenditure documentation.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Our priorities are Attitude, Aptitude and then Experience – in that order. You should like working with a collegial team of earnest people who love what they do.
